WHAT IS HAPPENING?
No public announcement or meeting was made regarding these 11 new fracking wells on a residential road - in fact only a handful of water well dependent families received notice and then objected to what was originally thought to be ONE well.
But both the DEP and PennEnergy have confirmed that not every required permit has been applied for through the DEP, and yet Ridge Road is about to get completely overhauled for ELEVEN new fracking wells. When meeting, DEP/PennEnergy also brought a team of lawyers with them, turned off cameras during the meeting, muting attendees and eliminating critical agenda items, what's that tell you about the level of trust and intentions here?
Residents appealed this decision and asked the DEP hearing board in Harrisburg this Sept in person to hit pause, but we also need to rally Jackson Township to change the ordinance NOW! Now wells aren't new to our region but this RESIDENTIAL NOW and the implication and potential impact is real - whether you're a farmer or a local who's lived here for years, a new family in the townhouse developments or just a concerned citizen or parent with children YOU NEED to KNOW before we say yes. From right of way constructions, thousands of gallons in waste water transport and torn up roads to potential explosions, leaks, water well tables and people getting sick, 11 additional wells would be catastrophic for us, our families and our property values! It's already happened in other neighborhoods, so please help us make it happen here too!
LISTEN TO THIS MOMS STORY OF HOW THE WELLS IMPACTED THEM - THE FRACK MONEY ALL SOUNDED GOOD ON PAPER UNTIL THEIR DOGS DIED. THEIR KIDS GET SICK AGAIN AND AGAIN. THEY KNOW WHAT CAUSES IT AND GET THE RUN AROUND FROM LOCAL DEP.
WE DON'T NEED THIS ON RIDGE ROAD!
WATCH AND LEARN HOW THIS FAMILY GOT SICK, AND HAD THEIR ANIMALS DIE AS A RESULT OF WELLS AND WATER POISONING.
FROM WATER BUFFALOS TO MISLEADING DEP AND FRACKING IMPACTS IT JUST GETS WORSE OVER TIME. OIL AND GAS COMPANY TRIED TO PIT NEIGHBOR AGAINST NEIGHBOR TO "STOP THE QUESTIONS."
FRACKING ROYALTY CHECKS HELPED UNTIL THEY STARTED TO GET SICK AFTER THE WELLS WENT IN. THEIR HORSES AND COWS DIED AND THEIR WATER WELL WENT BAD FROM THE IMPACT.
DEP "TESTED" AND SAID "IT WAS FINE" TURNS OUT PENN STATE AND FAIRWAY LABS TESTED AND IT WAS NOT - ABSOLUTELY WAS FRACKING IMPACT MAKING WATER NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION AND IT KILLED THEIR ANIMALS, FROM CHICKENS TO THEIR DOGS.
Bought a newly developed home? A great and modern townhouse that gives you wonderful commute time and Seneca school district? Or live on a nearby family farm? Whether mansion, condo, trailer or shack, doesn't matter because the value will BE IMPACTED with 11 wells coming in. Reach out to Jackson and help STOP this mess!
In January 2021, wastewater spurted from an idle well 2.5 miles away from two injection wells. “For four days, the idle production well spewed more than 40,000 barrels [a barrel equals 42 gallons] of waste across the ground and into a nearby stream, killing approximately 500 fish and aquatic species,” the petition said. “These incidents all could have seriously impacted drinking water.” The petition also says that seismic activity associated with the wells has “increased dramatically” in the past years.
Significant air pollution in western Pennsylvania, made it the region’s largest source of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which are harmful gases emitted by solids or liquids, including combusted fossil fuels. The facility will also emit substantial amounts of nitrogen oxide (NOx), sulfur dioxide (SO2), fine particulate matter, and other hazardous air pollutants, the Clean Air Council says. All of these have been linked to an increased risk of respiratory problems such as asthma, as well as to cardiovascular effects and a heightened risk of cancer.
Premature deaths had an economic toll of $23 billion, based on mid-range calculations that were the median and most likely outcomes of a wide range of potential results. according to the peer-reviewed study, which appeared in the Nov. 18 journal Nature Sustainability.
Pennsylvania’s most active gas driller pleaded no contest Tuesday to criminal charges, capping a landmark environmental case against a company that prosecutors say polluted a rural community’s drinking water 14 years ago and then tried to evade responsibility. Residents of the tiny crossroads of Dimock in northeastern Pennsylvania say they have gone more than a decade without a clean, reliable source of drinking water after their aquifer was ruined by Houston-based Coterra Energy Inc. Under a plea deal entered in Susquehanna County Court, Coterra agreed to pay $16.29 million to fund construction of a new public water system and pay the impacted residents’ water bills for the next 75 years.
Certified gas programs are highly unreliable and ineffective and in public forums been revealed to be pay to play, resulting in increased threats to health and climate from the oil and gas industry, according to a new report by Oil Change International and Earthworks. Certified Disaster: How Project Canary & Gas Certification are Misleading Gas Markets & Governments examines the rapid growth in “certified gas” and exposes on-the-ground failures to detect oil & gas pollution by one of the largest certifiers of methane gas.
